CTApp - TEACHING STUDENTS COMPUTATIONAL THINKING THROUGH A MOBILE APPLICATION

CTApp - TEACHING STUDENTS COMPUTATIONAL THINKING THROUGH A MOBILE APPLICATION

The methods and tools used, both in Computational Thinking (CT) and Serious Games (SG), are very important to all citizens not just because they are directly applied in computers, communication networks, systems and software applications but because they are conceptual tools for dealing with many types of problems in many disciplines. So, taking into consideration the term "computational", even though it may lead one to think that it represents a skill that is useful only to those who have made IT their own profession, it is also a fundamental skill (acquired skill) that everyone should own, especially those young people who want not to miss the opportunities that the future will present them ahead, in the coming years.

The Serious Games have the fundamental purpose of developing skills and competences to be applied in the real world through exercise in a simulated and protected environment and they can become very useful methods at school and in learning, especially now that digital teaching has assumed a fundamental role in guaranteeing the right to study of pupils in the period of quarantine caused by the Covid-19 emergency.

CTApp Mission

Throughout the expertise of the different partners composing the Consortium, coming from 5 different countries (Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Poland, United Kingdom). CTApp Project aims to create a most advance game to be used as a mobile application, able to increase Computational Thinking in students.

Targets

  • Students basically from secondary schools;
  • Teachers who will be given concepts and materials for implementing the game as a Computational Thinking training tool in the classroom (i.e.: handbooks and instructive videos).
