Summary
Innovation poles are considered as an important lever for econonomic and productive systems. Some EU regions have been very successful in boosting their economy and have gained considerable experience in innovation policy implementation including innovation pole creation within their regions.
Outlining models, policies and instruments in relation with the promotion of business aggregations and cooperation between innovative high-technology companies is one of the main challenges facing the regions in a rapidly changing economic and social context.
An active and integrated management of innovation is necessary to achieve a competitive repositioning of the economic system. Actions should be aimed at improving innovation policies in favor of developing technological innovation poles in line with the EU guidelines in the fields of research, development and innovation.
Objectives
An analysis was carried out focusing on the areas considered most significant in terms of experience in innovation policy and with specific best practices in the creation of innovation poles, such as the Piedmont, Emilia Romania and Latium regions in Italy, and further French and Austrian models.
This study provides interesting highligts on the best practices in terms of innovation poles' creation in EU regions. In particular, it provides regional decision makers with a comprehensive analysis of successful practices in implementaing innovation poles and their economical and social advantages.
