INNOVA trains Italian  innovation actors on Technology Scouting tools to enhance SME competitiveness, Rome, 3-4 November 2010

Within the framework of the RIDITT Program, the Italian Institute for Industrial Development (IPI) , Aleardo Furlani, CEO of INNOVA together with Tommaso Foglia, Manager of INNOVA’s Nanotechnologies & Biotechnologies’ department, and high level experts were appointed lecturers to give a 2 day training course in Rome on “Technology Scouting Tools to enhance SME competitiveness”.

The aim of the training programme was to provide Technology Scouting tools and techniques for innovation stakeholders to establish and consolidate relations with companies in favor of future technology transfer actions in Small and Medium Sized Companies.  In fact, understanding, identifying and assessing external research results, carried out both by public and private companies, significantly reduces risk and costs of developing solutions and creates new opportunities for innovation.


The course highlighted:

  • survey techniques and technological needs (technology audit, technology intelligence, technology foresight, creativity tools, the formulation of technology strategies)
  • how to define and adapt the innovation service portfolio
  • how to create added value trough technology transfer
  • the definition of scouting and business models and tools
  • the open innovation model and related opportunities
  • how to monitor new patents and technologies
  • the tools to identify technology and innovation needs
  • the advantages of innovation through the Web
  • the tools of operational marketing of technologies and services related to technology transfer

The workshop was further complemented by case studies and testimonials.
