"Practical Guide for Innovative Startups who want to enter The US Market" Event by ICE

On 14 July 2020, the webinar "Practical Guide for innovative startups who want to enter the US market" was participated by more than 200 people. The event was hosted by the ICE New York and with the presence of the Italian Ambassador in the USA, Armando Varricchio. The aim of the event is to show a great opportunity in terms of accessing capital and commercial development in the USA to Italian startups.

The event developed with a dynamic panel, moderated by the journalist Maria Teresa Cometto, in the presence of some of the main Italian innovation players in the USA. Simone Tarantino, author and lead mentor of the ERA accelerator in New York, past working in Acer and Intel; Andrea Calcagno, chairman, CEO and co-founder of Cloud4Wi; Josephine Pace, CEO of AlfaGreen Solutions and founder of Expandya; Marta Ghiglioni, Singularity University innovation and fintech expert and member of the board of directors of Walliance; Francesco De Stefano, CEO and co-founder of Caracol.

Ambassador Varricchio opened the event's work by emphasizing how "the pandemic has accelerated a process of rapid technological transition and how the birth of new entrepreneurship, the creation of innovation and new startups are fundamental factors to drive recovery". Varricchio also highlighted how “our startups, the support tools provided by the Italian government and the great opening of the American market to Italian innovation and creativity provide, even in this complex phase, a unique opportunity for an expansion of the dynamic Italian startup sector in the USA ".

Antonio Laspina explained "the release of this guide for startups want to be a further step alongside Italian entrepreneurship and innovation. An agile manual to take the first steps on the American market with useful elements on topics of primary importance such as fundraising, the actors of the system (incubators, accelerators, angel investors, venture capital funds), the American corporate system and the regulatory framework".

In the end, Laspina also concluded "we started with the questions that Italian startuppers, but also many SMEs, ask us in the daily dialogue with our offices. We organized our answers and our advice in a real compass for the first orientation, to gradually move from information to skills training to get to effective promotion on the market soon ".
