ICE-Building successful Italian-Syrian business partnerships, Damascus, Syria, 9 November 2010

Further to 2 seminars held in Aleppo and Damascus in February 2010 on Technology Transfer & Innovation, the Italian foreign trade Institute of Damascus (ICE) appointed INNOVA with the mission of carrying out a program to support and accompany 10 selected Syrian companies in 8 different business sectors (agro-food, packaging, environment, shoe-making industry, textile, cosmetics, innovative consultancy services, machinery for olive oil producers) with their business development and search for Italian counterparts. The Syrian projects were promoted on the Italian market and 20 matching possibilities with Italian counterparts were identified with a strong interest in an internationalisation or outsourcing process in Syria.

The final panel event was held on the 9th November 2010 at the Export Development Promotion Agency (EDPA) of Damascus in presence of the Ambassador of Italy H.E. Achille Amerio, the Director of ICE Damascus, Mr. Sebastian del Monte, the President of the Federation of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce, Mhd. Ghassan Al Qallaa and the General Manager of EDPA, Mr Hussam Al-Yousef.

During the event, INNOVA’s CEO, Aleardo Furlani, carried out a training session on internationalization processes and presented the results of the support program. Subsequently, the Italian and Syrian companies were successfully brought together resulting in a number of potential future partnerships.
